The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] will convene a press conference tomorrow [Monday September 14, 2020] to communicate the outcomes of the Special National Executive Committee that was held yesterday [Saturday September 12, 2020].
The Special NEC was convened to discuss the failure on the side of the President to respond to our memorandum of demands during our National Day of Action held on the 3rd September 2020 and to also map up a concrete way forward on the full-blown strike in all the sectors we organise.
The national union gave the President seven days to respond favourably and adequately to our demands as contained in our memorandum of demands. So far, no response has been received from the President. In this regard, as NEHAWU we are going ahead with our intention to embark on an extensive national campaign aimed at withdrawing our labour power in all the sectors that we organise until our demands are met favourably to workers.
The press conference will be convened as follows:
Date: Monday September 14, 2020
Time: 11am
Venue: Protea Hotel by Marriott North Wharf 1 Lower, Bree St, Foreshore, Cape Town
Members of the media are invited to attend and to cover the press conference. For more information contact: NEHAWU National Spokesperson, Cde Khaya Xaba, at 082 455 2500 or email khaya@nehawu.org.za
