COSATU mourns the death of Cde Morgan Tsvangirai

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is saddened to hear about the death of MDC –T President Cde Morgan Tsvangirai. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.

Cde Tsvangirai will be remembered as a fearless trade unionist and dedicated activist, who loved his country and defended from sliding into tyranny. He took on the Mugabe machinery and showed moral courage and commendable defiance even in the face of physical violence.

The people of Zimbabwe and of our SADC region owe in a lot of gratitude for fighting dictatorship and tyranny without flinching. This industrious mineworker left an indelible mark as a trade unionist and crusader for social justice.

We salute him as the working class for his contribution in championing the cause of the workers. We lower our banners in honour of this courageous and forward-thinking patriot , who never abandoned the struggle for a democratic and free Zimbabwe. We remain inspired by his dedication and bravery to the cause of the poor.

May his soul rest in peace!
