The Congress of South African Trade Unions mourns the sudden and tragic death of Cde Fezeka Loliwe, an ANC Member of Parliament and former SADTU leader in a road accident. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family friends and colleagues.
Cde Fezeka will be remembered as an activist, a worker leader and a very capable legislator, who never shied away from calling out political delinquents. She was disciplined and dedicated in her work and like all good and loyal soldiers; she died with her boots on.
This tragic accident is a reminder of the carnage that continues to exist on our roads. Thousands of people are killed on our roads each year and thousands of workers lose their livelihood because of the unreliability of the public transport system. To honour the tragic victims of road accidents, we shall continue to campaign for not only a safe and reliable public transport system but the one that will be accessible and affordable to the working class too.
