COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

COSATU condemns the attempted assassination of NATU Deputy President Mr Allen Thomson

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is deeply alarmed by the attempted assassination of the deputy president of the National Teachers’ Union, Mr Allen Thompson. We send our message of support to Mr Thomson, his family and his organisation Natu. We call on law enforcement agencies to work throughout the clock to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.

The level of violence and killings in the province of KZN has reached crisis levels and the law enforcement agencies need to do more than they are currently doing to stop these killings. There is lot of work that still needs to be done to exorcise our entire country and the province of KZN in particular of the culture of resolving disputes with violence and assassinations.

COSATU is worried that the failure by the law enforcement agencies to deal with killings risks converting this province into a lawless warzone. The Minister of Police, Mr Bheki Cele and President Cyril Ramaphosa need to decisively intervene. It is totally unacceptable that no one has been arrested for the many politically related killings that have taken place in the province of KZN.
