The Alfred Nzo COSATU Cluster is perturbed by the latest publication by the so called Matatiele Local KZN that misleading our members and the community of Matatiele at large.
The so called Matatiele Local KZN is not only purporting that it represents the views of our affiliates and COSATU but is alleging that the people of Matatiele in particular our COSATU affiliates support the proposed constitution amendment of the Republic of South Africa in respect of Matatiele local municipality to be incorporated into KZN.
These claims are not only misleading but mischievous because the COSATU in the Eastern Cape has Five locals in Alfred Nzo District, namely Matatiele, MT Ayliff, Ntabankulu, Mt Frere and Bizana, The Alfred Nzo COSATU Cluster is therefore tasked with the responsibility to coordinate the affairs of COSATU affiliates in these local. We want to categorically put it clear that there is no Matatiele local KZN that belongs neither to Eastern Cape or KwaZulu Natal Province.
We want to put it very clear that as Alfred Nzo COSATU Cluster, we distance ourselves from these mischievous claims. In the Public Hearing organised by Eastern Cape Legislature Alfred Nzo COSATU Cluster made a submission that COSATU supports its ally the African National Congress, the Matatiele Traditional Leaders and the majority of Matatiele wards that Matatiele must remain in the Eastern Cape Province.
These public hearings were held on the 21 February 2018, we have yet not received the outcomes of the public hearing. We want to caution and discourage the populists, who are using the letter head of COSATU in our local in Matatiele for their demagogic stance that seeks to gain political relevance using our name. Moreover as Alfred Nzo COSATU Cluster, we will convene Matatiele Shop stewards council meeting on the 22nd June 2018 @ 10:00, IN THE NEHAWU Regional Boardroom in Matatiele to clarify our members.
