The Liberated Metalworkers Union of South Africa (LIMUSA) is shocked and saddened by the sudden departure of the founding President of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU), Comrade Petrus Mashishi. We equally mourn the death of the founding President of SAMWU, Comrade Petrus Mashishi.
LIMUSA has learned that Comrade Mashinini passed on at his home in Soweto. He passed on a loyal servant to the struggle of workers and indeed a cadre whose history reflects the struggle that he believed in.
We extend our heartfelt condolence to the South African Municipal Workers’ Union, his family and the entire federation. We hope the SAMWU and the family will find strength during this difficult period of mourning a true leader and a dedicated servant of the working class. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult and painful time.
We equally lower our banners in remembrance and honour of Comrade Mashishi.
