COSATU in Gauteng would be convening its 13th Provincial Congress

COSATU in Gauteng would be convening its 13th Provincial Congress which will be held under the theme “RE-RADICALIZATION OF COSATU TO SHAPE THE CONTENT OF THE RADICAL ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION TOWARDS SOCIALISM”. The Congress will be assessing the work of the province for the past three years and also preparing for the National Congress which be held in September 2018. The Congress will also be looking at the political environment and Development both at the National and Provincial over the past three years. The Congress will assess the state of the Alliance in the province and including the question of state power by the South African Communist Party. The Congress will also debate what should be the attitude of the workers towards the South African Communist Party standing for election in 2019 as an independent political party or should the workers continue to provide support to the African National Congress.  The Congress will also look at the state of the affiliates and the state of COSATU in the province and nationally.

The Congress would also deal with the state of governance in the province and what has been progress and challenges from various departments and including the Life Esidimeni Debacle. The Congress would also elect new leadership that will drive and lead the workers in the province for the next three years. The Congress will be addressed among others by the Newly Elected ANC officials, South African Communist Party, SANCO, the Gauteng Premier David Makhura and COSATU General Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali.

The Congress will also debate and adopt resolutions which will guide the provincial program for the next three years.

The Congress will be taking place as follows:

Date    : 25 and 26 JULY 2018.

Venue : University of Johannesburg (SOWETO CAMPUS)

Time    : 10h00 to 18h00

The Congress will be opened to all media houses and accreditation will be provided on the 25 July 2018 at 09h00 at the University of Johannesburg.
