The South African Emergency Personnel’s Union (SAEPU) welcomes changes to the provincial executive council for North West province as announced by premier Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro yesterday, especially changes in Health. This long-awaited reshuffle is a positive step towards stabilising and boosting confidence in this vital department.
This changes comes after our successful march that took place on the 30th November 2018 to former MEC Dr Makgome Mafike’s office against the marginalization of EMS. We commend premier for removing MECs who failed to perform their duties as expected. President Cyril Ramaphosa must learn from his bravery and remove Health minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi because he is busy collapsing all provincial health departments.
We hope that Mr Madoda Sambatha’s appointment into this department will help in dealing with all the challenges from the EMS unit and position it to the right step.
