LIMUSA once again scored another victory at Denel where the employerdecided not to comply with the three year signed main agreement, while theysignedwage negotiations agreements withother Unions (i.e. NUMSA, SOLIDARITY and UASA).Denel Land Systems Managementdecided to pay a 5.73% annual wage increase to the scheduled workers at the workplace which is a non-compliance with a three year main agreement.
It is only LIMUSA that did not sign for this 5.73% annual wage increase and the union took the matter of non-compliance to the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) as per the main agreement which says workers this year (2018) should get 6.75% annual wage increase. We welcome the compliance order given to Denel on the 5thof December 2018 that Denel must pay workers as per the main agreement within 7 days which lapses on 12 December 2018.
We congratulate LIMUSA shop stewards and members for tirelessly fighting for the betterment of working conditions for Denel workers. We will monitor the developments and will make sure that Denel do pay workers what is due them. We call upon Limusa members and shop stewards to continue to work together in fighting the battles of workers.
