The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Limpopo is devastated by the assassination of the Deputy Provincial Secretary of SAMWU, comrade Ronald Mani who was shot dead last night, 30 January 2019, at Tshisahulu in Thohoyandou.
This is a third shooting targeting leaders of SAMWU in the province in the recent past. The Federation wishes to reaffirm our views that these shootings are nothing else but well planned political assassinations of leaders who are vocal against corruption and lootings. Our COSATU and SAMWU leaders are now leaving in fear for their lives and their families.
Whilst we appreciate the prompt deployment of a task team by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS on the recent case, as COSATU in Limpopo we are calling for an urgent intervention by the Minister of Police to focus on the spate of political shootings and assassinations.
