COSATU supports the Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) Campaign 1-7 April 2019

The Congress of South African Trade Unions supports the Israeli Apartheid Week that started yesterday1 -7 April 2019. IAW is an international series of events that seeks to raise awareness about Israel’s apartheid regime over the Palestinian people and build support for the growing Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. It takes place in over 200 cities across the world, with events such as lectures, seminars, film screenings, pickets, cultural performances, postering, are convened to help in grassroots organizing for effective solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.

COSATU will have a few activities in:

1.     Western Cape: a Picket in Cape Town at the Jewish Board of Deputies at 10 am –Cde Paul Bester 0744143993

2.    Free State: Panel Discussion at Braam Fischer Building at 10 am followed by a Demonstration at Cnr  Markgraaf and Nelson Mandela Street from 12h00-13h00– Cde Monyatso Mahlatsi 0761158823

3.    Gauteng: Picket at the U.S Consulate, 1 Sandton Drive in Sandhurst on Thursday 4th April 2019 from 10h00 – 13h00 and COSATU will host a Seminar which will be addressed by the Representative of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation and the Ambassador of Palestine Mr Hashem Dajani. This Seminar will conclude with the screening of a documentary on Palestine on Friday 5th April 2019 at 2nd Floor COSATU House 9h00-15h30.
