COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

COSATU Limpopo calls for intervention in the spate of political assassinations

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Limpopo is aggrieved and shocked at yet another act of political assassinations in a space of six to seven months in the province. Comrades Vaaltyn Kekana, an MPAC Chairperson in Mogalakwena Municipality and Ralph Kanyane, an activist and ANC Branch leader were gunned down in broad daylight on the 23rd July 2019 in Mokopane, Waterberg District. The federation sends its sincere condolences to the two bereaved families

The federation strongly condemn this act of barbarism by political cowards who lose boardroom discourse and resort to hiring of assassins. This is a third killing with the same political modus operandi in the province. As we said previously, our suspicion is that there is a well-organized and funded campaign by political hyenas within the ANC who are hell-bent on silencing any voice speaking against corruption and looting in our province. These political hyenas think that they can strike fear into the motive forces of our national democratic revolution by hiring assassins to silence whistleblowers within our movement and society.

These political hyenas must be stopped before it is too late.

Our campaign against corruption and looting will never be halted by guns. If anything, these assassinations are going to heighten our resolve to embark on militant campaigns to hound out corrupt elements within our movement and government. We are making a call to the people of our province to be mobilized in defence of our hard won democracy, freedom and good governance. Beneficiaries of state capture, corruption and VBS looters will never intimidate the collective power and determination of our people in fighting corruption.

It is therefore on those basis that COSATU is planning to convene Local Anti-Corruption Imbizos in Mogalakwena and other VBS implicated municipalities on the 21st August 2019 in order to mobilize our alliance and communities to fight and root out corrupt elements within our movement and the state.

In the same breath, the federation is calling for national intervention by the Minister of Police and the President of the Republic to stop political assassinations and effect arrests in the province
