SAMWU Update on the Impasse in Tshwane

The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) has today met with the management of the City of Tshwane under the auspices of the South African Local Government Bargaining Council (SALGBC).

Parties met for conciliation at the SALGBC offices in Centurion with the aim of seeking an amicable and acceptable solution to the current impasse  between the City and municipal workers.

SAMWU has presented a framework to the employer which we believe would be acceptable by our members and bring a lasting solution for all parties.

The City has committed that they would be seeking a mandate on the presented framework and would respond properly when parties reconvene tomorrow morning at the SALGBC.

We remain committed to ensuring that we come out of this process victorious in the interest of our members.
