Gender-based violence and sexual harassment in the workplace remains the greatest challenges facing society and our workplaces. While it is encouraging that many organizations and government have begun to prioritize anti-gender based violence programmes as part of their apex priorities, such reported cases with the SAPS are still very high. This clearly demonstrates that cases of gender-based violence and sexual harassment are still rife in our communities, families and workplace.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Limpopo will, therefore, continue to intensify its fight against gender-based violence and sexual harassment in the workplace through a march and a seminar in Lebowakgomo, Capricorn District. The federation has chosen Lebowakgomo due to its high number (38) of cases of gender-based violence such as rape which were reported between the period of January and May 2019.
Our activities are planned as follows:
1. Provincial Anti-Gender Based Violence March
Date : 21 August 2019
Time : 09h00
Assembly Point : Lebowakgomo Taxi Rank
Destination : Lebowakgomo SAPS
2. COSATU Provincial Seminar – Ending sexual violence and Harassment in the workplaces
Date : 21 August 2019
Time : 12h00
Venue : Lebowakgomo Civic Centre Hall
