The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will hold its Special National Congress on September 4-7 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban. The Special Congress is organised under the theme “The Power of Unity”.
The Special Congress is convened to finalise the work of the National Congress held in 2018. Among the major tasks are issues pertaining to constitutional amendments. Congress will also deal with other organizational policy matters.
After the Congress, the NUM will host a feedback rally for its members on the 7th September 2019 at Curries Fountain Stadium in Durban.
Amongst speakers at Special Congress are the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) Second Deputy President Louisa Thipe, South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary Blade Nzimande and the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Patricia de Lille.
