The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) support the call by COSATU and our sister union the NUM to ensure there is improved safety and security of all workers in all workplaces across our country.

It is in this sense that we call on all workers and communities to support the upcoming Marikana rally that will be taking place on Sunday, 17 November 2019.

We remain committed to confronting the worsening situation that has unfortunately led to the killing of workers seven years down the line.

We call on all workers, regardless of affiliation, to come out in support of ending the continuous violent acts and for an amicable solution towards tolerance and unity against the exploitative nature the mining companies have for far too long imposed on workers.
