COSATU calls for hasher action against those who assault workers

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West has noted with disappointment the continued spate of physical assault on workers at their workplace. This is done by both clients and the bosses.

Recently, a worker was assaulted by a customer at Checkers Rustenburg with the assistance of the store manager.

COSATU calls on for employers to respect workers and abide by the laws of the country. We further call on the law enforcement agencies to show no mercy to the perpetrators of these workplace crimes. The Federation demands the immediate dismissal of this manager by Shoprite Checkers with immediate effect.

COSATU will be in the Rustenburg magistrate court on the 29th January 2020 to support the worker and to observe if justice is served in this case.
