NEHAWU KWAZULU-NATAL TO PICKET AT PROVINCIAL BUDGET SPEECH TOMORROW

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in KwaZulu-Natal [KZN] will convene a picket tomorrow during the presentation of the provincial budget speech, in Pietermaritzburg.

The picket is convened to oppose and call for an immediate end to the austerity measures meted by the provincial treasury in the province which has resulted in a large number of unfilled vacant posts. Most departments are understaffed and this has an adverse effect on service delivery. We also want to send a clear message that we will not accept the intention by government to renege on the 2018 public service wage agreement.

The picket will take place as follows:

Date: Friday March 6, 2020

Time: 10am

Venue: Royal Showground, Pietermaritzburg
