Cosatu Western Cape Statement on water disconnections

Cosatu Western Cape is calling on the City of Cape Town to immediately stop all water disconnections to our people in the face of the growing coronavirus outbreak.  We also call for the immediate reconnection of all water supplies to the affected people.

We furthermore demand that the City of Cape Town and Farmers refrain from evicting our people and Farmworkers. The Federation made this urgent call because all forms of utility access are essential to the daily lives of our people and will be particularly important in the face of this public health emergency.

We are also calling on the Human Rights Commission to speedily investigate and act decisively on any matter that will be referred to them because we can’t allow that people health be compromised during this trying times.
