NEHAWU KWAZULU-NATAL TO OPEN A CASE WITH THE POLICE AGAINST NON-COMPLIANCE WITH LOCKDOWN REGULATIONS BY HILTON COLLEGE TOMORROW AT 11AM

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] and the Congress of South African Trade Unions [COSATU] in KwaZulu-Natal will open a criminal case against Hilton College for the contravention of the government lockdown regulations as published under the Disaster Management Act.

Hilton College has been forcing our members to continue with operations in their forestry section.  The leadership of NEHAWU made a surprise visit to the institution and found workers working in the field. The College produced a fake certificate falsely classifying them as an essential service. This was later disputed by the Department of Labour.

The Provincial Leadership of NEHAWU and COSATU will open the case against the college tomorrow as follows:

DATE: Thursday April 16, 2020

VENUE: Hilton Police Station, Pietermaritzburg

TIME: 11h00
