The Congress of South Africa Trade Unions in Mpumalanga condemns in strongest possible terms the savage and barbaric murder of comrade Tebogo Dikeledi Matsane- Mabunda, a member of our affiliated union NEHAWU at the hands of her heartless and bloodthirsty husband who shot her 42 times.
As the Federation, we are calling upon to all our law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is served. A message needs to be sent to all thugs that they will be caged for life if they continue to commit these horrendous atrocities.
COSATU calls for an end to gender-based violence and calls on men to treat women with dignity, love, and respect. No human being has the right to treat another as his or her personal property. Everyone has the right to choose without fear.
We are calling the law enforcement authorities to act without fear of prejudice and that the full might of the law takes its course so that future atrocities are eliminated from our nation.
Gender-based violence is a crime against humanity, perpetrators of such inhuman acts must be fully prosecuted and must never be considered for parole.
