The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West province has learned with sadness about the passing of Comrade Mothibedi Gordon Kegakilwe who died on Monday in the afternoon
Comrade Gordon who was affectionately known as LeGordy was deployed as the MEC of Cooperative governance and traditional affairs in the North West province and he diligently fulfilled his duties until the end.
An impeccable science teacher who cut his political teeth in the mass democratic movement, he was a former member of South African Democratic Teachers union and became a loyal and humble member of the African National Congress where he grew through the ranks.
LeGordy served the ANC up to the level of the PEC where he sometimes acted as the Provincial Secretary of the movement in the province. He always served the movement with distinction.
A very humble soul; Le Gordy was always committed to serve the people of his province in all areas where the movement deployed him.At no point during his time in the movement did LeGordy ever think of defect to any other party and he remained loyal to the movement through and through
LeGordy served as an epitome of discipline and he never wanted to be rewarded for the work he was doing for the movement.
He passes away at the time where the movement in the province is facing trying times and the unity of the movement is tested by foreign forces. His wisdom will be sorely missed.
The province has lost a political germ that inspired a lot of young upcoming comrades in the movement. His death is a great loss to the province and the mass democratic movement as a whole
COSATU deeps its banner in memory of comrade Gordon Kegakilwe and we send our condolences to his family, to the MDM structures in the province and to all the people of the North West and the country as a whole
May his soul rest in revolutionary peace
