The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Western Cape has learnt with profound shock of the untimely death of Comrade Mncedisi Mbolekwa, the Provincial Secretary of POPCRU in the Western Cape. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Popcru, his family, friends, and colleagues.
Cde Mbolekwa died on Wednesday, 15 June 2020 at his home. He was the longest-serving leader of Popcru in the province and his death is a huge blow to both Popcru and federation in the Province.
We will remember him as a dedicated and exceptional leader who made a huge impact in the lives of his comrades and workers. He was also a dedicated and principled member of the African National Congress (ANC).
We have lost a dear friend, comrade, and father. Comrade Mbolekwa was a true working-class activist and worker’s struggles always came first in his life. He was to many and we will remember his gigantic efforts to unite workers. He was the epitome of what a good trade unionist should be.
COSATU dips its banners to this fallen leader and cadre of the working-class movement. His place and seat in our future meetings and events will be empty, but his legacy will forever live in our hearts
Hamba Kahle Cde Mbolekwa!
