SADTU Northern Cape shocked and saddened by the passing on of the MEC for Education, Mac Jack

We are shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of our MEC for Education in the Northern Cape, Mac Collen Jack.

MEC Mac Jack served as the MEC for Education since May 2019 until he met his death on the 13 August 2020. In the short space of time that he has served the Education Department in the Province, Mac Jack has shown qualitative leadership. He was very passionate and focussed on improving the education system.

He  was on the ground in schools making sure he has a sense of how the  Education in the Northern Cape looks like and was always willing to listen to the people he was leading.

He served in the structures of SADTU as a Regional Chairperson of Pixley Ka Seme and his deep understanding of how the Organisation operates, empowered him to be the laboratory and revolutionary MEC he was.

We are honoured to have worked with MEC Jack who had the best interest of a child and teachers at heart.

The MEC recognised SADTU for who SADTU is and never forgot where he came from. We have lost a capable and progressive leader and this is a setback for the Northern Cape Department of Education.

He was an esteemed leader, remarkable, dedicated, and a visionary MEC.

Whilst we mourn his untimely death, our thoughts are with his family, colleagues, SADTU members, the society of Northern Cape and the ANC which he has served with humility and dedication for the better part of his life.

MAY HIS DEAR SOUL REST IN ETERNAL PEACE
