COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

DENOSA Gauteng statement on the precautionary suspension of the HOD of Gauteng Health

DENOSA in Gauteng has noted the precautionary suspension of the HOD of Gauteng Health, Prof Mkhululi Lukhele, which comes on the backdrop of the ongoing PPE investigations by the SIU.

Our view is still consistent with the view we took when the MEC was suspended. We will allow for the investigations to conclude and our stance will be informed by the facts coming out of the final investigation report.

Once the report into this whole PPE saga has been finalised, the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of DENOSA in Gauteng will reflect and pronounce its position. Consistent with rules of natural justice that we expect when our members are facing a disciplinary process, we will not take a decision on untested allegations and we note that the suspension is precautionary and does not constitute a sanction.

DENOSA in Gauteng, however, is disappointed by all these developments because they are now overshadowing the good work done by our frontline workers in defending the country against COVID – 19 under the stewardship and leadership of both MEC Masuku and Prof Lukhele in the province. We must also put it on record that the position statement and policies of DENOSA are not ambiguous when it comes to corruption: we despise it and we make no apology in that regard. We will not hesitate to call for the removal and consequence management if anyone is found guilty of it.

Lastly, we call on all health care workers to continue with the wonderful work they are doing in delivering quality health services to the citizens of Gauteng.

End
