The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) in Mpumalanga is shocked to learn that Grade R practitioners were not paid their salaries this month.
This comes after the union intervened to reverse the non-payment of temporary teachers.
We are again called to intervene and stop this abuse of vulnerable sectors.
The union calls on the Department to immediately pay the practitioners. We further call on the Department to immediately hold those who are responsible for this nefarious deed to account.
We further call on the Department to ensure that all the practitioners and temporary teachers are paid in the next payment run without exception and that all available resources including overtime be utilized.
The leadership of SADTU will meet in the coming week to map out a fitting response to these abusive actions.
This provocation cannot go unpunished.
