The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in the Free State province  congratulates POPCRU FS for ensuring that there is a compliance with the 50% staff compliment in the Department of Correctional Services and the Department of Police Roads and Transport. We appreciate the hurdles the union had to overcome to achieve this.

We firmly believe that adhering to 50% staff compliment in workplaces is a very critical strategy to manage the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The delivery of services is not compromised by an increase in infections.

We are worried that the SAPS has not fully complied with the implementation of the 50% staff compliment protocol. This is problematic because police officers are frontline workers who should be adequately protected.

 We call on the SAPS to ensure compliance with 50% staff compliment protocol. These workers do a wonderful job and they deserve our protection and respect.
