The National Union of Mineworkers National Women Structure welcomes the sentencing of Nombuso Dube and her mom’s murderer who was sentenced to two life sentences at Verulam Magistrate Court on Friday, 16th April 2021 in the Kwa-Zulu-Natal Province. During the time of her death, Nombuso Angel Dube (38) was an active and selfless Treasurer of Women Structure in the KZN region and her mother Mrs Mtokozile Dube (70) were both brutally shot and murdered by her ex-boyfriend Sam Radebe (53) on the 07th October 2018 in their home in Magwaveni area, Tongaat.
As the NUM, we welcome the final judgement of the gruesome murder suffered by the Dube family. We pray for their souls to finally rest in peace knowing that this heartless and evil monster will rot in jail. The sentencing will bring closure to this painful chapter and the NUM Women Structure still conveys its deepest condolences to the Dube family, Nombuso’s children, relatives and friends.
As a vulnerable woman and a mother, she risked her life to support her family and faced all kinds of abuse at the hands of the one person who was supposed to love and protect her and be the father to their children and the youngest son who was then 2 years old. The news of their untimely and brutal murder was difficult to bear for the NUM and its members.
We hope that with this sentencing GBV perpetrators will get the message and refrain from such barbaric acts and get help to stop them from their barbaric and gruesome plan of action.
