SAMWU Tshwane Region to March to office of Executive Mayor and Treasury

The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU), Tshwane Region will tomorrow be marching to the office of Tshwane Executive Mayor highlighting challenges facing employees. 

Workers in the employ of the City of Tshwane are exposed to a ruthless employer who on daily basis infringe on conditions of service.  Some of the workers are exposed to unsafe working conditions. Our members will also de delivering a memorandum of demands to the Executive Manager and Acting City Manager.

The following will be amongst the list of demands:

1.   Wage and Salary increase

2.   Housing allowance

3.   Minimum Wage

4.   Correct grading scheme at Metro Police

5.   Compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Standards

6.   Dismantling of White cabal

7. Disciplinary action against Martin Steyn who called one, shopsteward a Kaffir

8.  Outsourcing of municipal services

9.  Power Stations

Members of the media are hereby invited to attend and cover the march which will be held as follows;

Gathering point : Old Putco Bus depot in Marabastad, Pretoria

Time                  : 09H00 

Destination      : Tshwane House (cnr Madiba and Lillian Ngoyi Streets)

Members of the media and workers are advised to adhere to the Disaster Management Act regulations, in particular, social distancing and frequent sanitisation.
