COSATU MPUMALANGA MOURNS THE PASSING ON OF EMALAHLENI EXECUTIVE MAYOR COMRADE LINAH MALATJIE AND HUSBAND

The Congress of South African Trade Unions joins many South Africans, comrades and the broader working class and workers in particular to mourn the tragic death of one of its finest leaders who had served the congress movement with humility and distinction and for the most part of her life. 

Comrade Linah Malatjie had served the Congress movement during her early days after having qualified as a professional teacher, with vigour and commitment to the advancement of the National Democratic revolution and emancipation of both the working class and in particular woman who sustained oppression and violation of their rights at the point of production, systemic oppression at the hands of the pre and post-apartheid regime and lastly the oppression and subjugation of woman at the hands of patriarchal societal ideology,. 

She had risen through the ranks of the trade union movement the South African Democratic Teachers Unions, where she served from the lowest ranks as the. Shop steward and due to her steadfastness, bravery and utter wisdom she was elevated to the higher ranks of the trade union movement and was elected the Provincial Gender Convenor of SADTU. 

With her display of sustained charisma, humility and outstanding leadership skills she was drawn to serve in the ranks of the federation as the Provincial Gender of COSATU 

With the all rounded capacity and nourished ideological grounded she was further drawn to serve in the ranks of the African National Congress Nkangala regional executive committee member and elected as its Regional Deputy Secretary in its inaugural conference 

She a was later elevated to the position of the ANC Provincial executive committee till she met her untimely death on 02/Jan/2022 

She also had served with utmost distinction to various government positions of responsibility with par excellence as the Executive Mayor of Nkangala District Municipality and eMalahleni local Municipality respectively. 

Comrade Linah had epitomized true African values and custom, moral high ground with her true humility, caring and loving mother to her children and a humble and respectful wife to her husband and family. 

We lower our banners from Congress Alliance to the departed soul of our comrade, compatriot and the true cadre of our movement. 

May her soul rest in eternal peace
