IT”S ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR COSATU’S MAY DAY RALLY IN THE NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE

COSATU in the Northern Cape has everything geared-up for the International Workers’ Day Rally taking place in Upington at Dicky Mxolisi Jacobs Stadium. We are expecting about 1500 workers from all 5 (Five)regions of the province to attend this important gathering, members of the communities in the area and our Alliance partners will also be part of the event.

The Rally will be preceded by a Political Lecture on Saturday 30th April 2022 at Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington, the lecture will be about the History, Meaning  and the Significance of International Workers’ Day to the working class and people in general.

On Sunday, 01st May 2022, there will be a Fun walk from Harry Surtie Hospital to the stadium from 07h30am, a church session from 09h00am at the stadium and the officially programme will kick-start from 10h00 am to 11h30 which will be followed by sports and entertainment programmes until late in the afternoon.

Key to workers’ demands is Decent Jobs, a Living Wage, Defend Collective Bargaining, Fight against Gender Based Violence & Femicide, End of Job losses & Retrenchments, Fight against Corruption and to Stop Racism.

We will therefore hand over memorandums of demands to various employers and institutions like the South African Human Rights Commission and SAPS.
