COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

SACTWU members in General Goods and Handbags leather section receive a 7.25% wage increase

The COSATU-affiliated Southern African and Clothing Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) has settled its 2022/2023 wage negotiations in the General Goods and Handbags (GGH) leather section. GGH is a sub-sector of the leather industry.

This new collective agreement was successfully concluded under the auspices of the National Bargaining Council of the Leather Industry of South Africa, with employers represented by the Association of South African Manufacturers of Luggage, Handbags & General Goods.

Our members in this sector will receive a 7.25% wage increase, which will come into effect on the 1st of July this year.

This new collective agreement will be valid for a 12-month period from 1st July 2022 until the end of June 2023. The parties will enter into fresh wage negotiations early next year, for a new collective agreement to take effect from 1 July 2023.
