The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in Mpumalanga will be demonstrating at the Mpumalanga High Court during the court judgment in the murder case of our former Shopsteward Comrade Tebogo Dikeledi Matsane.
The union will be demonstrating outside the court as part of pledging solidarity with the family. As NEHAWU, we are strongly advocating for justice to be served in order for the family of Cde Tebogo to find closure on this matter. We hope that the judgement will send a strong message to the society: “NO to Gender Based Violence and Femicide”.
The union is concerned about the prevalence on Gender Based Violence in the province wherein women and children are losing their lives on daily basis. We therefore call upon all members of the society, including men to unite and fight against the scourge of Gender Based Violence within our communities.
In memory of Cde Tebogo Matsane, the union in the province will mobilize the society to join forces in fighting against Gender Based Violence and Femicide and ensure that all those who commit such acts of violence are brought to book. Those who commit Gender Based Violence have no space in our society.
The court judgement proceeding is scheduled:
Date : 30 May 2022
Time : 09H00
Venue : Mpumalanga High Court – Mbombela Square
Lastly, NEHAWU calls upon all MDM formations, Provincial Government Representatives, Gender Activists and Community members at large to come and support the Matsane family.
