The Congress of South African Trade Union Young Workers Forum (COSATUYWF) mourns the unexpected passing of SASCO Deputy President Cde Buyile Matiwane. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, his organisation, and colleagues.

Cde Buyile Matiwane was an energetic and dynamic leader within the Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) and will be sorely missed by all.  The Federation’s Youth Structure thanks the Matiwane family for borrowing us their son to lead the struggle for free education for all.

He remained committed to the Freedom Charter and the cause of People’s Education for people’s Power. To honour him, we shall ensure that this struggle does not falter and that the educational and economic emancipation of the working class happens in our lifetime. 

May His Revolutionary Spirit Rest in Peace!
