EMERGENCY CREW INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON ITS WAY FROM STEYNSRUS TO KROOSTAD IN FREE STATE

Two emergency crew from Free State EMS were involved in an accident while transporting a pregnant woman, the driver lost control of the vehicle on the road where there are road works at the R76 road.

A burst front right tyre leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle suspects that water logging on this road could be the source of the accident.

The driver of the ambulance that overturned on its way to Kroonstad has been discharged from Boitumelo Hospital without injuries while his fellow paramedic sustained a fracture in the leg and was admitted at Kroonstad Hospital. The patient sustained injuries on her head and pelvis. After being admitted to Boitumelo hospital at 11am ,the woman gave birth normally to a girl at around 1pm. She is stable and fully conscious.

The vehicle was damaged beyond repair after it capsized.

SAEPU would like to send a speedy recovery to that patient, hoping that the emergency crew mate who has a leg injury can recover and the Department must arrange counselling for them.
