COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

POSTPONEMENT OF WESTERN CAPE MARCH TO PARLIAMENT ON TUESDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2022

Please be advised that the intended mass action scheduled for Tuesday, 22 November 2022, has been postponed due to SANTACO’s ongoing strike action in the province.

The leadership of COSATU, FEDUSA AND SAFTU met this morning to reflect on the violent nature of the SANTACO action in the province and the safety of our members and workers. After the provincial engagement with SANTACO, we came to the conclusion that the safety of our members will not be guaranteed should we proceed with the action.

We call on SANTACO, the Western Cape Provincial Government and the City of Cape Town to go back to the negotiation table in order for the parties to find an amicable solution to the impasse.

We are also calling on the employers to refrain from taking any action against workers should they not report for duty in fear of their safety.
