The Congress of South African Trade Unions(COSATU) in the North West has learned that the ANC PEC in the province took a decision to make changes in the Executive Council of the province.
The Federation believes that this development was inevitable as the ANC recently emerged from its provincial conference. Similarly, other provinces have also taken this step making these changes in the North West highly expected and bound to happen.
We hope that these adjustments are supposed to be made to speed up service delivery for benefit of the residents of the province. We are also of the view that these changes should not bring a perception that some members of the PEC are being purged, instead they must bring unity amongst the members of the PEC and to the broad members of the organisation.
The province has a huge service delivery deficit and we hope that the new members of EXCO will produce fresh ideas on how to speed up service delivery to the people of the province.
We can confirm that there has been extensive consultation. However, in our view, these consultations were malicious compliance as all the concerns raised in the deliberations were not taken into consideration.
Be as it may, COSATU would like to congratulate the new members of EXCO and wish them well in their new deployment.
