COSATU LIMPOPO VINDICATED BY THE RECENT ARRESTS EFFECTED BY THE DPCI (THE HAWKS)

The Congress of South African Trade unions in Limpopo Province believes it is vindicated by the recent arrests effected by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (The Hawks) on some individuals suspected to be linked to the massive deposits of over a billion Rand of people’s money by several municipalities in Limpopo Province to VBS Mutual Bank. These shenanigans led to the collapse of the now defunct VBS Mutual Bank, with workers who worked at the bank loosing their jobs.

We will feel forever indebted to the resilience and bravery of our SAMWU shopstewards, Comrades Mani and Musetsho, for blowing the whistle on this chicanery and paid the ultimate price for their gallant defence of the resources of the people from looters.

COSATU encourages and calls upon The Hawks to continue to do their work without fear of favour and bring all those who might still not have accounted for their role in this saga to book. We must open a new chapter of accountability in handling people’s resources.
