The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] wishes the Young Communist League of South Africa a successful 6th National Congress starting today 6th December 2022 at Birchwood Hotel in Ekurhuleni. The congress is held under the theme: “Lets together, consolidate the youth to deepen and defend the NDR in the quest of a socialist society”.
The congress is convened during the centenary year of the YCLSA. The congress must reflect on this historic milestone, drawing lessons from past experiences for the road that lies ahead. As NEHAWU, we congratulate the organisation for reaching this historic milestone of 100 years.
The congress takes place when the country is confronted with an economic crisis and the crisis of social reproduction facing nearly half of our population in the peripheral townships and rural areas, afflicting the working class youth and women in particular. This is evident with high levels of unemployment, poverty and inequality.
It meets during a period when our National Democratic Revolution is being deliberately derailed from its proper revolutionary orientation. As such, the congress must be seized with the task of deepening, defending and taking full responsibility for the National Democratic Revolution.
Equally, the congress presents the organisation with an opportunity to develop concrete programmes and policies geared towards rallying the youth of this country to be actively involved in the struggle for youth development, the struggle against unemployment, poverty and inequality.
Lastly, we look forward to a congress that will be characterized by fruitful and robust deliberations in advancing the interests of the youth, working class and the struggle for socialism.
We wish uFasimba a successful 6th National Congress.
