The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) in the Eastern Cape Province will honour and award more than 400 teachers from the province’s six regions that performed excellently in the 2022 academic year.
We will be awarding the following categories:
· Schools with most distinctions and bachelor passes in each district,
· Most improved schools in each district,
· Best consistent school for the past six years,
· Best performed Special school,
· Best performed teacher per region,
· Best performed school principal,
· SADTU members who represented the province at the National Teacher Awards,
· Best performed lecturers in Technical Vocational Education and Training Colleges(TVET).
This is the sixth year of continuously motivating and promoting great excellence under difficult working conditions. The teachers in general and our members in particular work tirelessly through week-end classes and holidays sacrificing their family rituals, quality time with families and sometimes, their resources to improve on both the quantity and quality of results, hence the province attained 77,3% in the 2022 National Senior Certificate (Matric).
The event serves towards the realisation SADTU’s 2030 Vision which is entrenched on, among others, two critical pillars: Creating a learning nation and Servicing members unconditionally.
The MEC of Education in the province, Honourable Fundile Gade, SADTU General Secretary, Cde Mugwena Maluleke and Minister of Home Affairs, Honourable Aaron Motsoaledi will address the ceremony. It will take place as follows:
