COSATU rally to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1973 Durban workers’ strikes

The Congress of South African Trade Unions will host a rally to commemorate the historic strikes that took place in Durban 50 years ago. The Federation and its alliance partners, the African National Congress, and the South African Communist Party will pay homage to the close to 100,000 mainly African workers who protested over, among others, low wages, the humiliation of pass laws, and the denial of the right to organize.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by COSATU President Zingiswa Losi, with the ANC and the SACP giving messages of support.
