The applications for the COSATU National May Day accreditation are officially open. The Federation will continue with its tradition of hosting decentralised May Day celebrations across the country with its national event held at Bethlehem in the Free State. This will also be an opportunity for workers to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Saulspoort Bus Disaster which left 51 workers dead after their bus plunged into a dam in 2003. These workers remain dear to our hearts and will never be forgotten.
The celebrations will be held under the Theme: “Build Working Class Unity for Economic Liberation towards Socialism”.
The details of the event are as follows:
- The main speaker will be COSATU President, Comrade Zingiswa Losi.
- The Alliance partners ANC and SACP will deliver messages of support.
- The event will be held at Bethlehem Show Grounds
- Starting time will be 09h00
A final draft program for the day will be shared with members of the media.
