It’s all systems go for the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in Mpumalanga to lead the provincial National Day of Action march on the 6th of July 2023. This in defence of workers’ rights and serves as a strong call to government to address the socio-economic challenges faced by workers and society.
The National Day of Action aims to address the following atrocities:
# High interest rates
#High unemployment and Job losses
#Crime and corruption
#The attack on collective bargaining
#We demand the speedy implementation of the Zondo Commission recommendations.
The province of Mpumalanga has planned its action to be held as follows:
Gathering Point: kiepersol at 10am
Destinations: March to AP Vos & Seuns and Excelsior Boerdery farms against reduction of working hours, harassment by Indunas and supervisors, PPE
The march will take place in Hazyview in solidarity with the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU).
The theme of the National Day of Action is to address the following:
· The economic crisis which is characterised by high unemployment, poverty and income inequality must be immediately addressed.
The following speakers will deliver keynote addresses:
COSATU: 1st Deputy President
Cde Mike Shingange
SACP: PEC Member
ANC: PEC Member
The MEC for Agriculture Land and Rural Development will receive the memorandum on behalf of government.
