The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in the Northern Cape declares its readiness in mobilizing workers and communities around Kuruman and Kimberley for the National Day of Action scheduled for Thursday, the 6th of July 2023. The march is a demonstration against high interest rates, unemployment and attacks on collective bargaining.
Workers and their communities will present to employers the following key demands:
Ø Stop the attack on collective bargaining in all sectors.
Ø Prevent crime and corruption.
Ø Reduce interest rates.
Ø Stop job losses and privatization.
Ø Address high unemployment/create decent jobs.
Ø Speedy implementation of Zondo Commission recommendations.
Kuruman
Workers and community members will assemble at ABSA Parking Space around 08h30 and proceed to march around 11h30 and present a memorandum of workers’ demands at the JTG District Municipality offices, at 4th Federale Street, in Kuruman.
Kimberley
Workers and community members will assemble at Kemo Open Parking Space around 08h30 and proceed to march around 11h30 and present a memorandum of workers’ grievances and demands at the Metlife Towers Building, at Cnr Knight and Stead Street, in Kimberley.
COSATU Northern Cape urges all workers and communities to come in their great numbers to support the National Day of Action.
