COSATU Northern Cape statement on the International Day for Decent Work

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in the Northern Cape has scheduled pickets as part of the federations’ programme to observe the International Day for Decent Work on Friday 06th October 2023.

All workplaces in the province, both in public and private sectors, will embark on a 2-hour work stoppage and picketing. The main event will be held at the Premier’s office where COSATU Provincial Executive Committee(PEC) members and provincial leadership will join protesters when making their demands. These include the end to casualisation and outsourcing of staff, absorption of community health care workers, as well as security personnel at all government departments.

The workers will assemble at the premier’s office from 11h00 and picket until 13h00, where a memorandum of grievances will be handed over and a demand for answers to all other memorandums of demands previously handed over to the provincial government.
