COSATU and the Communications Workers’ Union will be holding a picket at SABC Auckland Park 12h00 Thursday 4 April

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and its Affiliate, the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) will be holding a picket at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)’s Head Office at Auckland Park in Johannesburg from 12h00 to 14h00 Thursday 4 April.

The picket will be in support of the right of SABC employees to a living wage and to have their meagre salaries protected from erosion by inflation.  It is a travesty that SABC employees, permanent and “freelance” did not have an increase for three years.

Whilst welcoming management’s offer of an increase for 2024, we support CWU and SABC’s grievance lodged at the CCMA for a 2024 increase to be backdated to the beginning of the financial year as per the norm for collective agreements in both the public and private sectors.

Workers at SABC have been abused for long enough.  Its time their rights were respected.
