The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in the Northern Cape is ready to host its 2024 May Day Rally under the theme “Building a strong and United COSATU in mobilizing for the ANC electoral victory”.
The urgent demands in this year’s May Day are:
Health and safety compliance at the workplace.
Defend collective bargaining and workers’ rights!
Stop job losses and mass retrenchments!
Fight against gender-based violence and femicide!
Create decent jobs now!
A living wage in all sectors!
Eradication of discrimination and racism wherever it manifests!
Housing for all including the “missing middle”.
The rally will be held at AR Abass Stadium in Kimberley and about 8 000 to 10 000 workers plus African National Congress(ANC), South African Communist Party(SACP) and South African National Civic Organisation(SANCO) volunteers from all the five (5) regions of the province are expected to attend the event which will start at 09h00 am.
Everyone is allowed to come and celebrate the gains of the workers but also to listen to the message from the leadership of our Federation. The workers will also be elevating their challenges to the leadership as a mandate for 2024 demands.
