COSATU MPUMALANGA CONDEMNS JOINS MILLIONS OF SOUTH AFRICANS TO CONDEMN THE HORRIFIC AND BARBARIC ASSUALT AND GROSS ACT OF GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Mpumalanga pledges its solidarity with millions of South Africans to condemn with utter disgust and castigate senseless incomprehensible assault incident meted by the boyfriend of the victim’s sister

COSATU in Mpumalanga is deeply affected by the continued unabated brutal attack women in the country and the province. The federation expresses its anger by the fact that the situation is further aggravated by the lack of competency and efficient deterrent measures that can be applied to ensure that such brutal incidents do not occur in our beloved country.

We further condemn the way its alleged that the victim has been treated by the law enforcement agencies without following proper due legal processes and victim defense mechanisms which exposes those victims to further attacks and vulnerability by their perpetrators. We therefore call upon law enforcement agencies, especially in Emalahleni, to put their house to ensure that rotten potatoes are dealt with and eradicated. That the perpetrator of this horrific act faces the wreath of the law and is fully prosecuted

The federation in Mpumalanga stands firm in defense of the rights to protect victims of Gender Base Violence and femicide.

We therefore commit to mobilize all our members to support the planned demonstrations fight against this barbarism to be held as follows:
