COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

COSATU LIMPOPO READY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DECENT WORK

The Congress of South African Trade Unions(COSATU) in Limpopo is poised for action to mark the International Day for Decent Work on 7 October 2024, which takes place against a background of:

* An 42,6% unemployment rate, which is among the highest in the world.

* The undermining of collective bargaining – reflected by employers reneging on collective agreements and failing to comply with Labour legislation.

* Rampant crime and corruption, including an increase in the incidents of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) and racially motivated crimes.

* Massive retrenchments, indicating an abuse of the LRA Section 189 processes by employers.

* High and upward spiraling energy prices and a general rise in the cost of living.

The Federation has therefor taken a stance to campaign against this on October 7. COSATU is, through this campaign, defending the gains that the workers have made over the past 30 years and advancing the interests of workers and the working class. The Federation further rejects the neoliberal economic outlook epitomised by austerity measures and budget cuts across state departments and institutions. We believe government should not be stripped of its capacity to honour its responsibility to deliver to the masses of the people.

COSATU invites all workers, members of the community and all components of the alliance to the march organised to take place on Monday, 7 October 2024. The members of the media are also invited to cover the march. We should also take this opportunity remind all workers that the march and strike are protected. The assembly point is SABC park at 9 am.
