COSATU Call Center Number 010 002 2590

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has recently launched a new call center to provide much-needed assistance to workers facing labour-related challenges. This dedicated resource aims to offer support, information, and guidance to both members of COSATU-affiliated unions and unorganized workers, ensuring that they have a place to turn for help with workplace issues.

COSATU wishes the SACP a successful Congress

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) wishes its Alliance partner, the South African Communist Party (SACP), a successful and historic 5th Special National Congress.

This critical gathering of the vanguard party of the working class will be taking place from 11 to 14 December at the Birchwood Hotel’s OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.  It is of special significance as the Party will undoubtedly deliberate and resolve on critical strategies and tactics towards ensuring that the Tripartite Alliance of the SACP, COSATU and the African National Congress win a decisive majority in the upcoming Local Government elections in 2026.

Throughout its history, the SACP, has proven itself to be a reliable ally of workers, a pillar of support for the trade union movement, a champion of a non-racial and non-sexist democracy, and a fearless opponent of corruption and state capture.

Following the outcome of the May 29 national poll, the SACP has been vocal about the need for the Alliance to intensify its renewal and radical reconfiguration, to defend the historic gains the working class has achieved since the democratic breakthrough of 1994 and to stand firm in the face of rampant and unashamed neo-liberalism across our body politic.

It will be equally important for the SACP to sharpen its crafting of measures to conscientise and unite the working class, to deepen the unity of the Alliance and progressive civil society, and to restore the faith and hope of the masses in the liberation movement.

Similarly clear alternatives must be further refined to stem the tide of austerity and affirm the developmental role of the state as well as a clear path towards building and achieving socialism.

COSATU will be keenly awaiting the progressive outcomes of the Special National Congress and looks forward to the Party’s briefing the Alliance afterwards and working collectively towards securing a decisive victory for the Alliance in 2026.

The Federation wishes its dear ally, the SACP, a successful 5th Special National Congress and has no doubt the resolutions taken will impact South Africa’s political landscape for the better.
